Total Number of Game-Related Tweets on Twitter Exceeded 2 Billion in 2020
Twitter stated in a blog on its website that more than 2 billion game-related tweets were posted on Twitter in 2020, registering a year-on-year increase of 75%, and that the number of independent authors on the platform also increased by 49% in 2020.

If sorted by region, most of the game-related tweets in 2020 came from Japanese, American, and South Korean users. In addition, Brazil, Thailand, the United Kingdom, France, India, the Philippines and Spain have also entered top 10 sources of the number of game-related tweets.
In terms of game IP, “Animal Crossing: New Horizons” is the most popular game on Twitter in 2020. Since its launch in March 2020, this Switch console exclusive game about island life has been very popular; it not only ranked at the top of the hottest game lists at the end of 2020, but also maintained its popularity until the beginning of 2021.

Other popular games on Twitter include Sony’s mobile games “Fate/Grand Order”, “Disney: Twisted-Wonderland”, “Fortnite”, “Knives Out” and “Genshin Impact”.
During 2020, many people chose game as their main entertainment as countries all around the world blocked their cities due to the Covid-19 epidemic. Data suggests that the total mobile application consumption of European consumers reached $14.8b in 2020.
“Game players from all over the world would discuss on twitter, and when they can’t communicate face-to-face, they see Twitter as a platform for interconnection”, said Rishi Chadha, head of Twitter game content collaboration.
